Introduction
Department overview
The Department of MSDE aims to cultivate professionals capable of designing smart production systems for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Its scope extends from traditional mechanical engineering to NT (nano technology), IT (information technology) and ET (energy technology).Through interdisciplinary projects offered as part of multiple-major programmes, students gain practical experience and specialised knowledge in convergent manufacturing engineering, as well as developing professional expertise. Students also participate in a wide range of academic research and industry-linked projects in laboratories led by faculty members who specialise in various fields.
Educational objective
To cultivate creative, interdisciplinary professionals specialising in major and emerging convergence industries, where the demand for innovative talent is growing rapidly.
Educational focus
The department provides a creative, interdisciplinary education in equipment and system design and design engineering for smart manufacturing, which is a core component of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The curriculum naturally combines the latest mechanical and equipment design technologies with the hardware and software technologies required for production systems and engineering design. Through industry–academia projects based on corporate needs, the department nurtures creative, multidisciplinary professionals who are capable of leading the entire commercialisation process for industrial convergence products. Students engage in a variety of academic activities, including conference presentations and journal publications, through advanced research in production systems and design engineering.
